I've done this trip a few times. Once by myself, and the last time with my brother. The trails are easy going and the sights are breath taking!
Apparently, the reason they call this the "French Louis Loop" is because back in the day there was a trapper and fur trader that used this area named Louis who happened to be French... so.
The trail winds its way through the forest meeting up with the shore of 7 or so lakes for a total of 23 miles. At each lake, there's a Lean-To which you can camp in. A few sites have fire pits too. I like to take three days and two nights to complete this trip.
The trail head for the loop is shared with Pillsbury Mountain and its fire tower. Once we're complete with the loop, this can be a great way to cap off the trip with a clime and a view.
